Congratulations: PhD candidate Susan Reh has won the Best Poster Award at the Early Career Summer School of the European Association for Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) in Birmingham, UK.
On her winning poster, Reh presented her research on comparison standards people seek to evaluate their performance in a business environment. Possible comparison standards are comparisons with other people (social comparisons), comparisons with one’s past self (temporal self-comparison), comparisons to an objective standard, and comparisons of one’s development relative to others over time (temporal social comparisons). She investigated which comparison standards people prefer, how their choice of comparison standards depends on their personality, and which of these comparisons motivate them to improve their performance.
Reh investigates these research questions together with Christian Tröster (Kühne Logistics University), Niels Van Quaquebeke (Kühne Logistics University), and Steffen R. Giessner (Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University).
The aim of the annual EAWOP Early Career Summer School is to support promising young researchers and to enable research collaborations. This year, 32 young researchers from all over Europe met in Birmingham in September.
