rather reluctantly. The youth cultures in the 1960s and 1970s considered respect the opposite of liberty and independent thinking. Now there are new questions arising, inconvenient and unavoidable: Why is respect for the other lacking in schools? What role does respect play in the family? Is there a relationship between the presence of respect in the peer circle on one hand, and its absence in the interaction with adults on the other? Even though contemporary developments in Pedagogy and Psychology reflect the increasing interest in this topic, and programs for parents and teachers alike have appeared, the term itself has still not been defined in any of those fields.
