Personal statement: My first personal meetings with respect in all his facets were more indirect: Already in fifth grade, it was an obligation for all pupils of my school to join mediation courses, where the concept of respect did not play explicitly a role, but was nevertheless quite important. Also working with handicapped people in my social work had a lot to do with respect: Respecting the other was of course a very basic requirement, but the label
respect was not explicitly used or reflected, too. Only since my own teaching experiences a more differentiated encounter and analysis with the topic has taken place: The first own teaching attempts in a school class, successful and less successful hours and conversations with different pupils led to the fact that my interest in respect and its role in school has more and more increased.
