Professional background:After graduating from high school, in 1999/2000 Jan Borkowski served his one-year military service in the German Navy, including a deployment to the Mediterranean. While enrolled in university he did an internship in auditing with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Hannover (Germany) in 2001 and in 2002 and 2004 worked part-time in controlling at Siemens AG in Erlangen and Nuremberg (Germany). In 2004 Jan Borkowski also did an internship in the area of sea and air freight logistics at DHL Danzas Air&Ocean in Hannover (Germany).

At Volkswagen Group China in Beijing (China) Jan Borkowski had part in developing the logistics concept of a new engine plant during a three-months internship in 2005. In the same year he worked for The Boston Consulting Group in Frankfurt (Germany) in a project on strategic acquisitions in the industrial goods sector.

In 2005/2006 he developed control strategies for material provision transports in the body shop for the Audi AG plant in Ingolstadt (Germany) as part of his Master’s thesis.

From September 2006 to September 2008 Jan Borkowski worked as a strategy consultant for the Hamburg office of The Boston Consulting Group. His project experience includes several Post Merger Integrations (PMI) in European and global contexts; optimization of company structure and organization with focus on Germany/China, Middle East, as well as global footprint; worldwide target search for the strategic acquisition of a major German corporation; and strategy projects on “pricing” and “supply chain”.

Besides his business activities Jan Borkowski is doing/has done voluntary work in the project “Elbstation” in Hamburg; in the

student support of the project “business at school”; in the respective Baptist churches of his places of residence (with a main focus on work with adolescents and young adults); in the inter-denominational student work of “Campus for Christ Germany”; in Christian work with drug addicts, as well as in nationwide youth work.
