Panel discussion „Diversity – A Bump for Efficiency or a Boost for Enrichment?“
 
on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 7 p.m.
at Alfred Schnittke Akademie Hamburg, Max-Brauer-Allee 24

 

Together with our guests we will discuss what we can expect of the concept of diversity in economic terms. To see diversity as an enrichment by now is part of political correctness in most places. But what is the real added value of diversity in corporate life? Is

diversity increasing or constraining the ability of a company to cope with pressure? How can tangible diversity management look like? And what does this mean for dealing with others?

 

We are happy to welcome to the panel:

- Maud Pagel (Deutsche Telekom, Advisor to the Board & Senior Vice President)
- Dr. Mathias Neukirchen (City of Hamburg, Senior Government Official)

- Prof. Dr. Bernd Simon (University of Kiel, Professor of Social and Political Psychology)

Moderation of the discussion by Dorothee Vogt, RespectResearchGroup Hamburg.

This panel discussion will be the kick-off for the second research colloquium for young scientists, hosted by the RespectResearchGroup and supported by the Foundation

Wertevolle Zukunft and the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S.
During the colloquium, we want to work on the topic "dealing with the other" from as many different scientific perspectives as possible. While doing that we want to be led by the search for a "good" dealing with the other, i.e., how must our dealings look like to be fruitful for all sides involved? Which steps need to be practically taken?
"The more different, the better" - this will be the guiding principle of our interdisciplinary discussions. This also includes questions of advantages and disadvantages of an interdisciplinary scientific practice. Therefore, junior scientists of all disciplines who are dealing with the "Other" in their research will participate in this colloquium.

We are looking forward to welcoming you on July 24th and having an animated panel discussion.
