Personal statement:One never stops learning. There are areas where one is sure about what he is doing due to experience and know-how. But still there are moments and situations which show that really no one is perfect. Wrong decisions or a lack of communication lead to all sorts of conflicts. That is why “respect” is important in all parts of life. As a consequence treating each

other with respect can be applied to many situations – which is a reason that makes this topic as interesting and exciting as it is. Whether it is dealing with people, appreciation, manners, power structures, sensitivity, lack of social competence or empathy – these are all areas that are not questioned in enough detail. In all of these scenarios respect is the most important variable though. The RespectResearchGroup gives me the opportunity to explore the question of respect together with others who share the same interest. And I am very happy to be able to participate in this project. The combination of the highly motivated group and the super interesting topic of respect turns the whole project into a really hot subject. Respect!
