Es ist nichts Neues, dass Respekt gegenüber anderen nur möglich ist, wenn man sich selbst respektiert. Ich bin der Meinung, in der deutschen Gesellschaft werden Kinder generell zu wenig respektiert; zwar nicht in ihren formellen Rechten - die selbstverständlich zu respektieren sind - aber in ihrem Recht, kindlich zu sein. Es wird viel zu früh darauf gedrängt, dass sich das Kind wie ein Erwachsener verhält, autonom wird, sich vernünftig zeigt, Regeln beachtet. Respekt gegenüber Kindern sollte aber kindgerecht sein, und das heißt vor allem liebevoll, schützend, großzügig. Wenn Kindern so früh abverlangt wird, dass sie ihre Kindheit ablegen, geht das nur auf Kosten ihrer Bedürfnisse, die unterdrückt werden.

Die meisten Kinder bekommen dies hin, aber sie benötigen dafür enorme Energie. In der Folge, verlangen sie mit der gleichen Härte, die ihnen widerfahren ist, dass andere (Kinder) es genauso gut hinbekommen wie sie selbst.
Dadurch geht Toleranz verloren (die ja sehr eng mit Respekt verwoben ist) und muss -wenn überhaupt - mühevoll wieder erlernt werden. Ich lebe seit über 30 Jahren in Deutschland und kann es immer noch nicht fassen, mit welcher rabiaten Dringlichkeit Kinder untereinander dabei sind, anderen Kindern den belehrenden Zeigefinger zu zeigen, das Verhalten der anderen zu kontrollieren. Das ist aber nur folgerichtig, denn genau das erleben sie auf schmerzliche Weise am eigenen Selbst.

Dagegen wird der Wert der Freundlichkeit (und sei es das bloße Grüßen auf dem Schulhof, ein Lächeln), kaum geschätzt sondern eher verpönt. Echte Freundlichkeit macht aber die Welt wärmer, denn man wird respektvoll behandelt, man fühlt sich respektiert, man möchte die anderen respektieren. Wenn ein Mensch friert und - zwar wegen gesellschaftlicher Kälte - ist Respekt zweitrangig.

Was mir oft im Berufsleben auffällt ist, dass Chefs sich dem Respekt ihrer Mitarbeiter erst verdienen müssen. Wenn Chefs gegenüber Untergebenen besonders in Bereichen der Arbeitsorganisation, Arbeitsschutz und Interessen des Mitarbeiters Fehlentscheidungen mehrmals treffen, verliert der Mitarbeiter den Respekt des Chefs. Hochachtung muss man sich denke ich mal verdienen, sonst wird man als Chef bald verachtet, und nicht respektiert!

Hallo,
bin durch die Suche nach Abhilfe bei inkonsequenten Lehrern auf diese Seite gestoßen. Euer Artikel über Respekt für Lehrer ist das beste, was ich bis jetzt im Netz gefunden habe. Meiner Meinung nach sollte dieser Artikel allen Lehrern als Pflichtlektüre gelten. Eine Lehrerin meiner Tochter bedient wirklich alle Punkte, die Ihr nennt, wie man Respekt verliert. Dort gehen die Schüler über Tische und Bänke. Und meine Tochter konnte diese Punkte alle von selbst benennen. Ich wünschte wirklich, Lehrer würden sich am Anfange ihrer Karriere mit diesem Thema auseiandersetzen oder wenigstens, wenn sie feststellen, dass es nicht läuft. Ich danke Euch wirklich sehr für diesen Artikel. Weiter so. Und da ist mir auch egal, von wem Ihr bezahlt werdet, wenn so hilfreiche Arbeiten daraus entstehn.

Die RRG erweckt bei mir den Eindruck, als handele es sich um einen kleinen neoliberalen Thinktank, der sich durch arbeitgebernahe Stiftungen und Unternehmen (Bertelsmann Stiftung, Deutsche Bank, Land der Ideen etc) finanzieren läßt - Vertikaler "Respekt" als Mittel zur Wahrung gesellschaftlicher Strukturen und Klassen.

Hi, very good site. And I think these are much useful and needed topics, especially respect in economical contexts. And escecially in Germany. My feeling is, that spirituality and econimics are well known topics in other cultures (english spoken) in germany it is a very rare and fragil flower. Hope tha it doesn't take too long to blossom!
